Anita Watley is a Customer Service Representative for Metropolitan Energy Center who serves the Ruskin Heights neighborhood and surrounding areas. Anita helps homeowners understand rebates given by the city and/or utility companies.
Anita has been active in the Kansas City community for several years. She's spent two years serving in Americorps (a government organization dedicated to resolving community issues), four years providing education, screening and counseling to schools, churches and other organizations about the HIV epidemic and she has volunteered her time and resources to Gulf coast residents in the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. After hearing of the devastation, Anita immediately left Kansas City to assist area residents harmed by the hurricane apply for disaster relief.
Anita cares for her community and sees herself as playing a pivotal role in the growth of energy efficient homes in the community. She believes that if she can empower individual and families with the necessary tools to create an energy efficient home, not only with they benefit but it will also benefit the community as a whole to eventually become self-sufficient and who, in turn, will help other communities.
