Customer Sales Representative Sandi Garrison works the Kansas City Northland for MEC. Her primary focus is finding resources and services to assist homeowners in their home weatherization improvement efforts.
Sandi has a variety of skills obtained from working and volunteering. She's worked with Students at Risk and she's been the library secretary for the North Kansas City School District. For four years she worked as a Program Specialist for the Region VII OSHA Education and Training Center at Metropolitan Community College.
Sandi's also been (surprise, surprise) a Safety Manager in the scrap metal business and, being the "I'll help you wherever I can" kind of gal that she is, assisted the Executive Director of "Ripple Glass," Kansas City's only glass recycling company, during its early beginnings as a start-up.
As Sandi continues to work with homeowners, she also continues to better herself. She considers her Associates of Science degree with an Environmental Health and Safety emphasis -- which she obtained later in life -- as one of her proudest accomplishments. Some of her other recent activities include working as a member of the Efficiency First KC Chapter and completing an Excel Leadership class which teaches students the skills needed to promote neighborhood involvement and advocacy and how to work with the numerous departments in state, local and city governments.
In her CSR role, Sandi thoroughly enjoys talking with homeowners about available rebates and explaining to them how behavioral changes (such as setting a programmable thermostat) can help reduce their utility bills. However, just as much as Sandi is at home helping homeowners, she's also a big advocate for kids in need and can be found volunteering her time with Children's Mercy Hospital. Through the hospital, she has received her Healthy Homes Specialist Certification that helps promote a "Healthy Homes" environment for children with asthma and allergies.
