Project
Living Proof
This project is more than just ideas. It is a living breathing demonstration
of the need and want for sustainable home renovation and development.
The basis for change is created by the contribution of many dedicated,
compassionate people working together for successful advancement
of the idea.
The
design process is evolving as a result of charettes or
conceptually suggestive meetings with community members,
university students, and professionals. The focus of these
charettes was to brainstorm about potential energy efficient
technologies for the demonstration houses as well as
alternate methods by which these could be implemented.

Another step in the design process employeed Architectural students
from The University of Kansas. They were involved in measuring the
home to develop accurate floor plans. The students have completed
axomometric drawings of each floor of the home. These drawings work
together to illustrate proposed changes to the original floor plan
and cam be viewed in the Outcomes section of this website.

As the project moves forward, unwanted elements
have been deconstructed for recycling as renovation materials in
the home and elsewhere - a sustainable feature. Deconstruction was
begun by students from The University of Missouri at Kansas City
along with staff of the Metropolitan Energy Center.
The project continues to grow and breathe. More people are exposed
to the idea of green daily. Hopes and expectations for the success
of Project Living Proof are genuine. Architectural plans are still
in process. The MEC is seeking funds to expedite and complete the
renovations. Networking with green construction professionals also
provides a broader, stronger base for success of the project.
