PLP in Greenability
The home is a demonstration of the KCP&L Smart Grid which is a combination of onsite energy generation, advanced switches and capacitors, automated meter reading, and other smart technologies that allow for real-time monitoring and management of energy usage. The site's landscaping is a pilot project of the Sustainable Sites Initiative, a voluntary set of guidelines and benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction, and maintenance practices.

The renovation process began May 2010 and tours of the site are offered as indicated above. The Metropolitan Energy Center is grateful for donations from a number of businesses and organizations. Donations continue to fund the maintenance of the site. For more information, check out the PLP Sponsors and Partners or contact the PLP Coordinator, Jennifer Mayfield.
