Project Living Proof

The staff at The Metropolitan Energy Center in collaboration with others have completed extensive research on alternative building practices and materials to be incorporated in the Project Living Proof demonstration homes. Below are interactive pieces that provide a walk through of the building site and the homes. Also in these pieces are images representing styles similar to what is desired for the homes.

Words can only say so much to describe the Project Living Proof houses. Therefore, take a look at each of the following videos to perceive a glimpse of what is in store. There are three videos, one shows examples of changes to the landscape. The other videos provide a walk through the house with stops describing sustainable details envisioned for each room, floor by floor.

Click on the pictures below to launch videos. This may take a few minutes depending on internet connection.

The desired outcomes of the Project Living Proof are a living, functioning extension of the vision. Residents will recognize and acknowledge the impacts of current development practices on health, environment, and economy. The project will encourage and inform people on how to create homes that increase the health of our living environment.

Desired outcomes are:

First, we expect this project to create a greater demand for green in the home building and remodeling market. This is to be accomplished by:

  • Real-life applications of products and concepts.
  • Workshops and interpretative exhibits.
  • Interaction with the industry demonstrating green products.
  • A better informed community making more educated choices.

Next we expect that this project will prepare the home building and remodeling industry for an expanding market. This is to be accomplished by:

  • Professionals attending related workshops/training designed for green building and remodeling.
  • The industry having an excellent facility to help meet its training needs.
  • A common location to focus the market and industry to interact and demonstrate its products.

We intend for the project to have a positive impact on the surrounding neighborhood and other communities. This is to be accomplished by:

  • Project being in a multicultural, economically diverse neighborhood and could be replicated.
  • The partnership community participating in construction, utilization and upkeep of project.
  • Behavioral change occuring, quality of life increasing and future resources being protected.
